Oh No, a Car Payment

Well, I did it. I bought a new car. It is a Scion, which is a Toyota, but it isn't, or something. I didn't understand the whole thing, but I love it! I'm not sure I love the tires, which are going to force me to take out and yet another loan when I need new ones. We had some snow, a mini-blizzard, right after I bought it, and I almost didn't make it up the street. Part of it was that I forgot to take off the emergency brake (OK, I know, dumb move), but the other thing, I believe, is that it has a bigger engine and fat tires. I have to get used to a new car in the snow, I suppose. Buying a car is awful. I don't think anyone truly gets a good deal. My co-worker tells of buying a used car and it didn't come with a jack or a manual. They told the dealer, who assured them that he would get them one, but she said they knew he was lying, but bought it anyway. They have since bought a new car, but she said they felt stupid that they fell for the sales pitch. I am satisfied with the deal I got...I think. It is a 2008, but it was sold as a new car with only 290 miles on it. I liked it because it was standard and it had a sun/moon roof. I never did know the difference between a moonroof and a sunroof.
Bean was in a play this weekend, and will be in one next weekend. And Monkeyboy jumped into the deep end at the pool in his swimming lesson. That's a biggie for him. He is desperately trying to pass the next level at swimming so he can stop taking lessons! Whatever works! I never learned to swim well. I never learned at all until I was an adult. Our community didn't have a swimming pool, so I never had access to one while growing up. I don't much like to swim and I don't like to go into the ocean or lake because I am afraid on what I might be standing.
I am tired of winter. I want spring to be here. I think there may be a tulip or two that the deer missed last year. February is ending and March does always get a few warm days as teasers, but then we also usually get a big snow just to remind us that winter is hanging on and does not want to leave.
Have a happy Sunday!

Scion's are made by Toyota, but they are made exclusively in Japan. They were made to take the place of the Celica. Nice car, Mia. And good for Monkeyboy, the first plunge is the hardest. I love the water, love to swim. We go to the beach every summer for three weeks.

How exciting! A new car. Pretty color, I think, it's kind of hard to tell. I hate swimming, but I love lying in the sun, so of course, this means many trips to the mall to find the perfect suit, which by the way, is getting harder to find each year. Mia, you need to post more often.

I agree, mia, we miss it when you don't post. We all swim and love the water here. We have one of those unsitely above ground pools, and although it is great for the kids, when I actually want to swim we go to the community pool.
So, you went and bought yourself a car! Good for you. It looks very pretty.

Aahh, yes, Mia. I too miss it in between posts. As if we do not chat enough already! You forgot to tell folks about the "feel it" feature on your new cool car.

Must be part tiger (Hi Tiger!) because I love the water. I grew up, Cathy, with one of those "unsightly" above ground pools in the back yard. But I think it shall do the trick for your kids. Great for pool parties and I guess that I kinda learned to swim.

I love the ocean too and all that stuff swirling around my ankles never seemed to bother me. What does creep me out is my feet dangling and not being able to touch the bottom. Despite my fear of very deep waters, I managed to enjoy water skiing. Just, not so much, the falling down part.

I'm glad you have a car that pleases you, Mia.

We had an above ground pool also. And it is where I learned to swim. I always had to clean it, so I vowed as an adult that we would never have one. I think it's great that Monkeyboy is taking swimming lessons and that he jumped! Everyone should have a basic idea of how to swim, I suppose. It looks like a great car, mia. What's the "feel it" feature?

I do not want to be confused with that "other" anonymous. They sound bitter. I am very happy for you mia. The car looks great! And SW2, I think the "feel it" feature has to do with the sound system. Mia got a very cool car with a very good sound system. And, Mia, you are right, very expensive tires. But, hey, you only live once. Go without food for several months, the tires are worth it!

I, too, am tired of winter mia, the city is need of spring and the greening of Central Park. And, Kitty, if you meant tigger rather than tiger, I am sorry to disappoint you...I HATE WATER. Mia, you must write these posts more often, how are we to keep in touch with one another? And where is Ben, he is usually here by now. Happy Sunday.

I don't know, we had snow tonight and it looked pretty. It will be dirty and sloppy tomorrow, but right now, it is clean and clinging to the trees. Your car looks pretty mia, though I don't know much about cars. And as for swimming, I don't put on a bathing suit anymore, it's best for the rest of the world!

Here I am, tigger. Was away for the weekend, got tired of waiting for Mia to post. Nice car, Mia. I've heard good things about the Scion, and it sounds like you got the souped up model. There is a whole cult of people out there with Scion's and they have rally's and blogs. They customize their cars and talk about all the neat things they do. My relative twice removed by marriage (I'm making that up, it is my sister-in-law's brother) has one and he belongs to this club where they are obsessed with their cars. I guess we are all obsessed with something. I like swimming, just don't get much time to do it. Born and raised in the city, so we always went to the parks to swim. Both County and City. Good for Monkeyboy!

Saw the car and it is really nice looking. Will get a ride in it soon and looking forward to it.

I learned to swim in a creek on a farm, just jumped in and started kicking. I'm not a good swimmer but i can get by. The boys on the farm used to jump out of a nearby tree, naked, to swim. Or maybe they just jumped out of the tree because us girls showed up.

Ginger, Ginger, this is a family blog, isn't it? Naked boys jumping into a creek? Oh, my. I need a new car, should have bought that Celica from you Mia. My car is eight years old and I am having to fix it every weekend. I should get one now while they are supposedly offering deals. Maybe this summer. Seeing that car makes me want to buy a new one, though.

I had to take lessons also and I didn't much like them. I swim now almost every day and I love it, so I am glad I got over my fear of the water while I was younger.

It is supposed to go to 50 here tomorrow. Can spring be far behind? Yes it can, if only some of this darn snow would melt. The shopping centers have this big, ugly mound on black snow and it looks awful. Maybe some will melt tomorrow. I hope! Nice car, Mia.

I don't like to swim, but I make my kids go to swimming lessons. They have to take swimming in gym later, and if they can't swim, it reflects on their grade. And, most of their friends know how to swim, because they all have those above ground pools. LOL

It certainly looks like mia has quite a following. It's fun to read what everyone has to say. So, I think, mia, that you should post everyday. Or at least more than you are. I love Ginger's post. Naked boys jumping into the creek. What was your reaction, Ginger, if I may ask?

I like the beach and the waves. Although one can't swim as well, it is wonderful to have the water lap up against your legs in the soothing way that it does. And it goes on forever. I agree, you don't know what you are standing on, but it is fun to feel the sand move with the waves. I don't swim well, but I can swim well enough.

Hey Mia, nice looking car! I have to start looking also. Soon my car will be all patches from rust and will just fall apart on the road. We swam in a creek also, Ginger, but I don't remember ever jumping in naked from a tree. Naked, maybe, but never from a tree.

How do you like your Scion? I have had one for two years and I think it is the greatest! Haven't had any problems with it at all. It's a nice car for the money and I have always gone with Toyota.

I think our family is growing.

Your car is exactly like mine except, I don't have the spoiler on mine. Nor the big tires. So, I guess it isn't just like mine. But, they are the same color. I love my Scion, I think you will love yours also. I like your blog, your car caught my eye, but I have spent the last half hour reading your posts. I think I will visit more often. I love the dog, he looks sad. Is he? Your pictures are wonderful!

OK, a tree and a cat...lethal

I've taken quite a few rides in Mia's car already, and it's REALLY nice. The sound system is amazing, and it's really comfortable.

I didn't learn how to swim until the summer of fourth grade. I was terrified of water! I didn't even pass the second level of swimming! My mom would take me to swimming class and I would sob on the edge of the pool as the teachers would talk me into getting in. It was horrible. But now I love swimming-ha, you'd never expect it.

Well, Tim, I was young and probably didn't have much of a reaction other than giggling a lot as young girls will do.

We never swam naked, just the boys did that. They yelled and laughed a lot as I suppose young boys do.
