A Sunny Saturday

Can life be any better? Great weather, good food, nice people surrounding me and BASEBALL TOURNAMENT WEEKEND.
Monkeyboy's team is undefeated. The food they cook tastes wonderful. MR joined us today. The sky was beautiful. Do you look at clouds and see things? I do. I see a big dog in that picture. And isn't it funny when you see something and no one else does. They begin to argue what you have seen.
Bean was taking pictures today, wandering the field. She began to wave madly at someone, thinking it was I (or is it me?). She was insulted when the lady didn't wave back. I think that lady did look like me, only much older, of course.
Why do burgers always taste better on the grill? I chowed my down today and it was wonderful.
I am reading lots in the backyard. I read a bit, watch the kids behind us, watch the birds, the bees...wait, that's not what you think.
The parents on this baseball team are so very nice. And when one of the players has a bad day, everyone cheers anyway. The kids do try their best, and I think everyone wants to win, of course, but everyone cheers when there is an exceptional catch or hit, no matter what team it is.
Five more days and I will be done at my job. I don't feel sad, but there is so much I want to do before they de-activate everything. I really loved my job, it was something different every day. And the people are wonderful. Well, most of them are. There are some...well, we won't discuss them!
My interview at Phipps went great, I think. I really want the position. It is kind of a glorified Walmart greeter. I think it would be wonderful, and I would be eligible for courses they offer on gardening, flower arranging, etc. Free. How great is that? I am told that everyone will be called back for a second interview, and I am assuming that it will be after the Fourth of July holiday.
Time to gear up for the road trip. You may remember, we are headed for Williamsburg, VA. I love these road trips. Singing in the car, staying up late, eating whenever we are hungry. We will spend some time at the beach this year. I have no swim suit. Debating whether I should get one or not. It's very traumatic to try on bathing suits. I always think I can get into a certain size, and it never works, so I feel disgusted. Perhaps I'll just forget the suit. No, no, not that...I'll wear shorts on the beach. And a tank top. Yes, that's what I'll do. Why ruin my vacation by trying on suits that won't fit.
Well, the big bed calls my name. Three games tomorrow and a very busy week ahead. Have a wonderful Sunday.

I don't really see anything in those clouds, but we do the same thing, look for something. It is hot here, and hazy. I don't know of a woman who tries on a bathing suit that doesn't go into a state of trauma! I think they shrink over the summer.

I think food always tastes good on the grill. It's one of the parts of summer that I love. Eating outside on the deck. It's probably why I don't fit into my suit from last year. It's too big. I wish. Which means....SHOPPING. I agree, it is very traumatic to try on suits. We have a pool in the backyard, so not that many people see me, thank goodness!

I have a little, bitty, teeny, weeny yellow polka dot bikini and it fits just fine, thanks. See you on the beach.

Woke up early this morning, surfing the net and came upon your blog. How fun! I don't like swimming, so there is no need to shop for a suit. I stopped doing that after the second child.

Welcome, Shelly. I am new myself and this is a great group we have going here. I'm not seeing a dog, Mia, but perhaps a cat at the bottom. It's been raining here, but we need it. Monkeyboy got MVP? That is great! Congratulations!

Mia, I'll help you find a suit!! Anyway, I also enjoyed Monkeyboy's tournament. They won the championship today and Monkeyboy was named MVP! Congrats buddy!

OK, Tim, we want pictures. I'm not seeing anything in the clouds, except that they are pretty against the blue sky. I do like to watch them when they are like that, changing shapes. Good job Monkeyboy.

We've been at the beach all day and let me tell you, some of the bathing suits and people (not just women) who wear them! It is fun to watch, but as long as they are having fun. The clouds are pretty, Mia.

Welcome Shelly. We do have a lot of silly fun here. Congrats Monkeyboy. BTW, I am deep in De Nile about Mia retiring. Have to share some of the events from this weekend . . .

Ran out to get milk and well, don’t think I live in the country but we do have our share of critters. Hit a traffic jam and I’m convinced someone hit a deer and I really don’t wanna see. Cars moving very slowly in both lanes, taking turns and I’m holding my breath and squirming. Then it’s my turn and I see it. A baby raccoon in the middle of the road, unharmed, standing in that very famous arched back cat stance and sooo not moving. Anywhere. Well, I am not shy when Kitty comes to the rescue. I do that oh, so helpful thing and blast the horn. Darn thing looks totally frozen and never moves. At all. I too, have no choice but to go around it.

I buy my gallon of milk (meow) and ask the big, chatty cashier if he would help the poor baby raccoon up the street. I had the tears ready to flow if it would have helped. But now, I must drive back home and am panicked. Don’t want to waste time with a detour but also very afraid of what I might see. The traffic is really backed up and I see the flashing lights of 2 cop cars. Officers on the side of the road looking around. One cop in the center of the road. He is waving but his expression doesn’t look like he will tell me if the baby is OK. He waves again and this time yells something at me. Doesn’t he know how worried I am? I take one last quick scan around and can only hope that Rocky Jr. escaped back into the woods, safe and sound with Momma. Way too stressful for me.

Most valuable player? Great Job, Monkeyboy!!! For the most part, great baseball weather here. I don't "read" clouds too much, Mia, but they were pretty yesterday. I guess men have it easier when we go swimming, not much difference in what we wear. We go for comfort. I agree, some people look "different" in swim suits, but isn't that what makes us all unique? Don't worry, Mia, just get a suit and enjoy the beach.

Summer weekends are great, aren't they? We had a cookout this weekend since most of our friends will be away for the fourth. And, yes, little league tournaments are in full swing here also. Great job, Monkeyboy, quite an honor. Sorry about your episode, Kitty. Have another bowl of milk, it will make you feel better.

I ran over a rabbit when I was 16 and never forgot the sound. Was going to go back, but I didn't know what I could do at that point anyway. Before cell phones, does that tell you how old I am?

My brother got a cell phone, I think it was about the late 80's or early 90's. It was this monstrosity (I don't know how to spell). You had to push the button to talk, then let go of the button for them to talk. He traveled a lot, and I remember it was really primitive. Now look at them.

Now what would we do without our Blackberry?

I am sure the look-alike was much older, Mia. Funny story. All food tastes better outside, I am convinced of it. Glad your interview went well, keep us posted when you get the second interview. It sounds wonderful.

Friend of Shelly who told me about your blog. Thought I might join the group. Your posts are funny and thought provoking, Mia. I like the pictures and I like that everything is anonymous. Do any of you know each other?

Bill said...

Some of us live here in Pittsburgh, but we are basically anonymous. I think Mia knows some of the people, but that's about it. Welcome to all newcomers. That's great about Monkeyboy. Quite the honor. Good job.

Don't you know that all clothes shrink when we put them away for the season?

SocialWorker2 said...

Ah, the ever searching quest for a new bathing suit. Fortunately, mine still fits from last year. This has been a problem of mine since high school. Who makes bathing suits anyway?

Nate said...

Trauma abounds, swimsuits, animals on the road. What shall we do?

I don't like to swim, so I don't have to buy a suit, thank goodness. If I do go to the pool, I just wear shorts and a tank top and sit in the sun, but I don't even like to do that. I would like to see Tim in his suit, though.

Tis the season for tournament ball. Nice work, Monkeyboy. I also think Tim needs to send us a picture, it conjures up a pretty frightening image

Welcome to all the new folks. I, on the other hand, do not want to see Tim. Sometimes it's just better not knowing. ;)

Just got back from CA so I have missed the blogs or at least the last two. Glad to welcome all newcomers.

Elizabeth, that was not a cell phone your brother had! I think it sounds more like a walkie talkie.
