Summer in the 'Burgh

The last baseball game was last night. Monkeyboy's team won 3/4 tournaments, last night being the fourth. What will I do on a warm, summer night? Such fun to watch these kids develop skills over time and the elation of winning. Lessons learned.
Phipps has been in touch with me. Some budget problems, some problems with HR director's illness in the family. I will check when we return from the road trip.
Road Trip 2009 will begin in just two days. To Virginia for a week. I have been having muscles spasms in my back, so hopefully they will quiet down before we leave! We have lots planned, Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, the beach and lots of food, of course.
Not working has it's benefits...the biggest one being enjoying the world around me. I have had time to sit and enjoy the garden. The flowers are magnificant! And the deer are hardly bothering them. I have painted the bedroom, again! (hence the muscle spasms in my back). It looks very beachy. Thanks to all who have had input.
This has been an incredible summer here in the burgh. We had rain last Friday for the first time in weeks. Took the kids to Color Me Mine to paint and have art pieces fired. Monkeyboy painted a frog, Bean a tile, Sprout a cup and I painted a stone that said "Welcome" for the garden. We went to the library, where the kids sat on the padded window ledge, watched traffic and listened as Bean read a story to them.
Bean helped me pick out a swimsuit. Haven't used it yet. Tried on lots of them and many gave us a good laugh! The first one I tried on is the one I ended up buying. Had to have one for the road trip.
A neighbor is cutting their grass. I love the smell of fresh cut grass. It is one of my favorite smells of summer. Do you have one?
Time to do something...read, shower, shop, get ready for road trip, or just sit in the garden enjoying summer.
Hope your summer is as pleasant.

Mia, I thought maybe you had already left on the road trip since IT HAS BEEN SO LONG SINCE YOU BLOGGED! Always good to see a new post. Good for Monkeyboy! And good for you, a new swimsuit! I love the smell of a bar-b-que in the summer. We almost never use the kitchen to cook in the summer, so for us, the grill gets quite a work out.

Shopping? Shopping? I vote for shopping. Haven't been shopping much this summer, kids don't like it. So, baseball season is over. Sounds like it was a good season for Monkeyboy. You have been busy, painting a bedroom! It's been a pretty good summer here, weatherwise. I can't believe it is almost August. I like the smell of fresh cut grass too, but I think I like the smell of the air after a rain. Everything smells cleaner, I think. Have a safe road trip and keep us posted.

I am crazy I suppose (my husband keeps telling me that!) but I love the smell of suntan lotion and pool stuff. It just says "summer" to me. Not the indoor pool smells, but the outdoor ones. Hits all my senses....and that's summer to me! Have a great trip, Mia and kids, and try to keep us up to date. I have missed your blogging, but I guess that is summer too!

The road trip sounds like a blast! Sounds like unemployment agrees with you. I like the smell of fresh cut grass also. And the suntan lotion smell brings back times as a teen when we would lounge at the pool in the sun all day. How did we do it????

The sounds and sights of summer are more what I think about, kids playing ball in the street, neighbors sitting out and talking to one another, and here in the city the girls still skip rope on a daily basis!

Welcome back, Mia! Oh, wait, you didn't go yet, you just forgot about all of us in your leasure time. Well, it's good to see your blog. Baseball over? Oh, no, what now? I like the smell of grass as long as I don't have to cut it.

Mia, kept looking and looking and looking for your blog! Good to see you back, although sounds like you will be leaving again. Having to cut the grass, unlike Jessica, I cannot fully appreciate the aroma of freshly cut grass. I am too busy sneezing and coughing from allergies!

OK, what's the name of the band? I thought, mia, that you might have gone on tour with them. The weather here has been great, but now come the storms. Have fun on your vacation and let us know how it goes. Have a safe trip.

Aaaah. Freshly ground and brewing coffee, pina colada suntan lotion, and vanilla. Scents are one of the most effective things to conjure up memories. Lavender is also said to help you fall asleep, along with other alleged powers. That's why its growing again in my flower boxes.

Volunteered today with the Citiparks Roving Art Cart. This was the first time I have worked with PA Red Clay, despite the pottery wheel scene from Ghost being one of my favorites. Convinced the trees were humming Unchained Melody.

Yes, safe trip to Mia and company.

I was at Monkeyboy's last game of the season and as always enjoyed watching them develop into great little players. The catcher on the other team got hurt (not too bad) and while the coaches checked him out, all of his teamates on the playing field immediately knelt down on one knee and waited until they were sure he was ok. That was a great picture.

All the smells of summer are great, grilling hot dogs, new mown grass and the summer rain. You don't get many good smells in the winter.

Again, great game monkeyboy. Those trophies are really piling up. I will miss the games too. That was my big night out!

I want to go to Monkeyboy's games, sounds like a lot of fun...I'll bring the family,we will all cheer for him. Sorry to see the ballgames season end, also, mia. Well, little league anyway. Pirates can end anytime as far as I am concerned. Have a safe trip, Mia.

Our senses can bring us a myriad of pleasure when summer arriaves. I, like you, mia, enjoy sitting out on a summer evening enjoying whatever might be going on in the neighborhood. Have a safe and wonderful vacation. It sounds like a lot of fun.

Mia, I kept looking for your post, and here it finally is! For me, freshly cut grass. And I don't have to cut it, so that makes it even better! Good job, Monkeyboy. Have a safe trip.

Are we all going to play "where in the world is Mia" the way they do on TV? We could guess the beach, the pool, the amusement park. On second thought, just have fun and have a safe one!!!!

You don't need to wonder about me. I will be by the pool in my bikini.

Tell Phipps to find the money, or cut a deal with them somehow! Sounds like you are still enjoying the garden minus the deer. Tim, please, please, please figure out how to post a picture of yourself in your bikini. It sounds charming. Have fun, Mia and group.

Has anyone heard from Mia? She needs to update us and tell us how the road trip is going.

I think I saw them by the pool. They admired my suit.
