Friends

I usually begin my posts with a title. I can't think of one for this, although I will at some point.
Tonight I am sad.
It is fairly late on a Friday night. Yesterday I learned that a good friend was in the intensive care unit. A freak series of events landed her there. She has cancer. A healthy woman, never any problems to speak of before this event. It happened about three weeks ago. She fell. She is now in intensive care. How does this happen? I cannot "wrap my mind around this" as the saying goes.
Remember my friend, Linda, that I have mentioned here. She also has some significant medical problems resulting from what physicians found in surgery that she had.
Both of these women are intelligent, caring, funny women. I love their sense of humor, their spirit, their "are you kidding me?" attitude.
I sit here, after two glasses of wine (is it more?) thinking about how much I care about them, and how helpless I feel.
I work with a young man at work, Christian. He is majoring in neuroscience and has helped me understand some of what is going on medically with my friends. I thought it would help, but it doesn't.
I talk to my friend's sister, as well as to Linda's husband. They sound strong, ready to do battle, ready to help no matter what.
Both women are facing some very difficult times ahead. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry, Mia. Who can predict why these things happen? It never does seem right or fair. It is good that they are both strong and have a sense of humor. I will pray for them and for you to help them through this. Stay strong for them. They will need all the strength you can give them.

I logged on to see a comment about the Steelers and saw this. I hope all goes well for both of your friends. It certainly puts things in perspective, does it not? Stay positive and stay strong. In my thoughts.

In this time of craziness we should all take time to remember that there are those that are those having difficulties beyond our imagination. We should take time to be so grateful for what we have and remember those that are needing our support. I will keep them in my prayers, as well as you, Mia. We all feel helpless when those we care about are in pain, either emotional or physcial.

Boy, that's terrible news. It does put things in perspective, doesn't it? I don't pray much, but I'll keep hoping for the best for both of them.

I am so sorry, Mia. Never a good time for someone to have medical problems, and especially hard at this time of the year.

It is so heartbreaking to hear these things anytime but even worse at this time of year. Our prayers are with her and the family going through such an ordeal. Also, for you Mia, because you are such a caring friend to all.

May the spirit of Christmas with you all!

It is hard when all are celebrating and one has to deal with something so serious. Be strong and have faith.

How awful. I guess we have all known those close to us that have had cancer. Many fight and win, some do not. Let's hope your friends are the ones that fight and win. It sounds as though they are strong and healthy, so that's a positive. I will pray for them.
