Vacation Time

We made a trip to New York City this past weekend. It was a great trip. We women had one room, and the guys had a "man cave". Pleasant drive to the big apple. No problems. We rented a van and packed it up and on our way.
Sunny day, not much traffic, even going into the city. We have a thing here called ez pass. What a great invention. Whip right through those toll gates. We got it mainly for the Holland Tunnel, and it really got us through all the toll lines in great time. We arrived in the city through the tunnel. Mippy drove the final leg. We came out of the tunnel and the garmin said to go one way, but Mippy thought we might be going the right way. By the way, the garmin often gets confused around tall buildings. After a screaming, yelling, swearing fit minor meltdown, we were headed for the hotel. Had to go around thousands of blocks in the darn traffic the block several times because of the one way streets, but we made it to the parking garage which charges thousands of dollars because they can and began to unload the van.
We went into our separate rooms and unpacked before heading out to ToysRUs to ride the ferris wheel, which, of course is a tradition. Thank goodness, I didn't have to ride it.
The kids swam, we shopped, we ate, we went to Central Park to ride the buggy and to hang out. We saw Wicked and I saw Race. Wonderful productions. I went to see Race first with James Spader from Boston Legal. What a provocative wonderful production! And after the play, the four person cast came out to greet those who waited by the stage door. It wasn't as though I waited (OK, I did), but there was about twenty people there to greet them and the cast was very kind to meet with us and thank us for coming.
We headed to Central Park Saturday morning. I mentioned that surely, if I was to find red cowboy boots anywhere, it would be here. No longer did I say it then they appeared in a window of a shoe store that we were going past. I went in, tried them on and they fit! Needless to say, I bought them AND wore them to the theater that night. Aren't they great????
Did you ever have a time when you began to laugh and giggle about something very silly and then it got to the point where you couldn't stop? Then everything becomes hysterical. We left the theater after seeing Wicked. A wonderful production, by the way. Did I mention that? Bean does this wonderful impression of a horse. She paws the ground then gallops. It is hysterical. You would have to see it to appreciate it. If I can figure out how to do a movie and download it, I will. That started the giggling in the corridor of the hotel. We got into our room and began to find everything amusing. We were laughing so hard that we couldn't stop. At least we were in the hotel room and not in someplace where we were supposed to be serious.
All in all, it was a wonderful trip.
I have my boots, we all have memories and we all arrived home safe and sound.

Hmmm, I posted, but it didn't show. What a wonderful time you must have had. I remember that part of your bucket list, Mia, so I am glad you fullfilled one of your wishes. Have you ever had a giggling fit in church? It's the worst! We saw Wicked here when it toured and we loved it. Let's see if this comment shows!

I agree, a fit of laughter in church is the hardest to control. But doesn't a good laugh make you feel good? Not necessarily in church, but it makes me feel really good after I have laughed at something and can't stop. And it's not something that anyone else can appreciate, because it is about that moment and that incident. Red cowboy boots. You go, Mia.

I saw RACE on Sunday and thought it was very good. It was a lot of fun to see James Spader live and then wait at the stage door and get an autograph. I was not sure how he would be in a play but he was great!

The boots. You got the boots! Good for you. I have no idea of what "bucket list" you are talking about, but I am all for treating yourself! Shopping in NYC sounds like a dream. And laughing until your sides split is another dream. Does the soul good. I heard about Race and I heard it is very good. Sounds like a good time was had by all.

I agree, getting the giggles in church is the worst. I have had to get up and leave, only to come back to do it again. I love the boots, mia. Great choice.

I also saw Race, wonderful play. They were all wonderful. I was surprised that there wasn't more reaction to the dialogue. Yes, it was nice that they came out after the production to greet the people and to thank them for coming. I didn't have a camera, but I got them on my cell phone.

Our giggling in church was an incident when my good friend who always sat in back of us lost it when Skipper slid back in the pew and immediately sat on his hat. Seeing that squashed hat set her off to the point where she was shoving kleenex in her mouth. It was a long 45 minutes that Sunday.

Reminds me of that Mary Tyler Moore show where she got a laughing jag in a funeral home as eulogies were being read. Hilarious!

Sounds like a great trip, Mia, and just love those red cowboy boots.
Yee Haw!!!

Great summertime song, Mia. And the boots are wonderful. I remember that episode, Ginger. It was when Chuckles the clown died. Yes, those fits of giggles seem to happen at the most awkward time. Sounds like yours happened at a good time, Mia. And they do relieve a lot of stress, no matter when!

I have cowboy boots to go with my chaps.

Sounds like a great weekend, Mia. And the boots are very sharp! I will look for them at Phipps. You missed a big mess here on Sat with the weather, blew a tree over in my yard. What a mess. I don't go to church much, so I had no fits of giggling. But a good belly laugh is good for the soul.

I love NYC! Have been there several times and can't wait to go back. It sounds like a fun trip and I get the giggles on a regular basis. It DOES do the soul good.

Vacations are great! And so are the red boots. I have never been to NYC. I watched Boston Legal and loved James Spader. Would be nice if they toured the play.

Spader is leaving Race on June 20, but is looking at other scripts.

My daughter got a pair of cowboy boots and wore them forever. She even wore them to bed and when my wife tried to get them off after she was asleep she couldn't do it for fear she would wake her. She kept them and they are still her favorite pair of shoes/boots, even though she can't wear them.

I love to hear children laugh, really laugh. It makes me laugh. And when someone is laughing so hard they can't tell me something, I end up laughing just because they are. Love the pictures, Mia.

Never been to NYC. I think it would be too crowded for me. But I am glad you had a good time. I have a pair of boots, but they aren't cowboy boots and they aren't red! Pretty fancy boots, Mia.

We saw Race when it first opened. It was wonderful. We plan to catch it again before Spader leaves. Hopefully it will have a long run and they will get another good actor to play the part.

Always wanted a pair of cowboy boots, never had any.

Perhaps you can put on work boots and finish the yard. If you really want cowboy boots, I'll buy them for you. *heart*
