January in the 'burgh

Sunny and 45 degrees. Snowy and 8 degrees. 28 and icy. Welcome to Pittsburgh!
The Steelers did it and what a game against the Ravens. It was a quiet week here before the game. I think the team set the tone. Focus. No smack talk from us. A pep rally on Friday was the biggest news. The game looked awful the first half, but out team came back and defeated the Ravens. It's on to the Jets on Sunday. Get ready, Tim!
As you can see, the picture is hung. Few things that I want to do yet, but for now it is hanging and looking pretty good!
This would be a good time to do things in my house that I never want to do in the warmer weather. Problem is, I don't want to do them now. The freezer in the basement...well, let's just say that it should not even be there. I don't know why it is. It needs defrosting. Yes, that's right, I said defrosting. It has had much of the same food there for several years. Probably, the food isn't any good, but it seems wasteful to throw it out. The same problem exists in the freezer in the kitchen. But at least that one doesn't need defrosting.
Then there is the bathroom. For years, I have been saying it needs something. I keep thinking that it would be a wonderful winter project. Maybe if I take a nap those horrible thoughts will escape.
Why is there always something to be done in my house? No matter how much I do? Does someone or something sneak in at night and mess up the attic or the basement?
I have this problem. I know that this is the time of the year to tackle these things, but when it is dreary and snowy I just want to get OUT of the house. Cabin Fever, I believe, is the malady that strikes. For instance, today it is dreary. Yesterday it was sunny. So yesterday, I thought I should get errands done since it might snow. And today it looks like snow, so I am going to lunch with my friend and to the mall for a haircut. BECAUSE...it might snow tomorrow.
I know, it makes no sense. But my hair will look better. Which means I have to get a shower and wash my hair so Donald doesn't think I never take care of my hair. And it will be clean and shiny when he washes it and cuts it.
Some days I just go out of the house looking like.....well, you know. No shower, hair a mess, old sweats on that are stretched and torn. And I swear, I am just going to get some gas for the car and maybe stop for some wine. And that is the day that I see everyone. I try to ignore, but noooo, the yell my name and wave madly across the gas pumps. And I'm pretty sure the man who takes care of me at the wine store is the husband of the woman with whom I work. I look like a street person craving for my next drink. So within the space of one mile, I have seen four people that I know or are acquainted with and now they think that I am the eternal slob.
Next week CATS is coming to Pittsburgh. Our gang is going, and I am excited. I love CATS and all the music and dancing. Guess that means a shower and shampoo.
Stay warm.

Oh, my, Mia, those pictures are beautiful. Those flowers! Wow. You post is especially funny since I went to pick up my neighbor's son at pre school and forgot the sign to put in my car. When that happens we have to go inside to pick them up. And guess who had just come from the gym? I hate when that happens!

I am of the opinion that projects should only be started when one is motivated. If the couch falls apart, then think...only think...about redoing the room. I get bursts of energy and decide to begin something, and that usually lasts about a week. Then I have to rest.

I am so tired of snow and winter. I know, it will pass (in 60 days), but we have had way too much and there is no where to put it. And people are getting very cranky. More snow Friday.

Your post made me laugh when you said you wash your hair before you go to get it cut. I do the same thing. Why? Who knows. BUT I also go out looking like a slob hoping that no one will see me. If they do,I console myself with the thought that when I really look good, they will eat their heart out.

That sounds like a very old freezer, one that has to be defrosted. Should have sold it in the garage sale! I feel for you, Tigger. We are getting more snow here, also. Twigs is probably getting it too. The northeast has been hard hit this winter. As I sit here in my sweats contemplating if I can make it to the store before anyone else, I hear what you say, Mia. But, I think I will try to get there and get home quickly. This is a slob day for me!

I prefer to think of it as a casual day, Shelly. And I am very casual today. I honestly try to do all my errands on one day that take me anyplace public. It never works. I remember being in the drive washing the car, ripped shorts and old tee shirt. My old high school boyfriend was running for public office and came up to me soliciting votes. I recognized him immediately, he hadn't changed at all. It took him a few to recognize me. When he lied and said I hadn't changed at all I made a decision that someone who told that whopper of a lie couldn't be a very honest politician.

We are bracing for more snow. This is a bad winter for us, but we'll make it through.
I love the pictures Mia, they are peaceful to look at.
And I change into sweats as soon as I get home, hoping I won't have to go out again. They are so comfy, but oh, so ugly!

When I am a slob, I am a slob. I sometimes look very good and sometimes don't. I am sure my wife has something to say about how I go out in public...but I am who I am. Don't we all want to be slobs sometimes?

I always dress for the mall. After all, if I am going to try on clothes,I want to have the right shoes on and the right accessories. Now, the grocery store is a different thing. I just grab whatever is hanging around. And let me tell you, women arent't the only ones that dress casually in the supermarket!

We are getting geared up for the game on Sunday! Go Steelers! It's going to be perfect football weather, a little cold, so dress warmly Tim.
The picture of the bridge is very nice, Mia.

I have my black and gold long underwear on and I am ready to go. A little snow and cold has not stopped me before. Go Steelers! (How did this nonsense of me cheering for the steelers start? I'm not even from Pittsburgh)

I'm not sure either, Tim, but you do a wonderful job, and you can't quit now. Great pictures, Mia. We are shoveling here also, though I don't think we got as much as they were predicting. Surprise. The weather reporters do seem to enjoy making everyone panic. All their alerts, etc. I have to say, the kids are enjoying the weather!

Well, we are all tired of the snow already but it just keeps coming. Skipper and I did the driveway this morning before he went off to work. Then later, here comes the snowplow and pushed all the crap off the street back into the driveway so guess who shoveled again. I just love those guys!

Waiting paitently for the big game on Sunday and hoping it is not as nerve wracking. Put on those long johns, Tim and Cheer, cheer, cheer!

Go Steelers, and do the Stairway to Seven.

I pulled my back out shoveling. I don't think it's pretty, or nice, or fun. I hate snow.
On a more positive note,I like your pictures, Mia.
And I think I look that same all the time...my hair is short and curly, I don't wear makeup and I wear jeans and sweaters all winter. I never could take the time to do all the rest.

It is so hard to get these kids to shovel the snow. All they want to do is sled ride and have snowball battles. I have to push, push, push.

Kevin's wife said...

You could just shovel it yourself.

Way to go Steelers! And good luck with the Packers. That should be an excellent game. Thanks, Tim, I know it was cold. But you did a great job and we are proud of you.

Wasn't sure they were going to hold onto that game. It was a nail-biter. Congrats Pittsburgh!

Good games yesterday. GL in the superbowl Pittsburgh.
I know the feeling of laziness in the winter. Just seems as though it's hard to start anything. Wait for the burst of energy. If it doesn't come...well, there's always tomorrow.
