The Time Has Arrived

No, not the election......my photography class final tomorrow. Two of the pictures are here on the blog and I have a total of four. Michele has assisted me with her critiques of my photographs, and I am pleased with the outcome. Two in color, two in black and white. I have enjoyed the class to a certain degree, but some of it has been boring. For instance, last week, we critiqued each others photos, then spent 1 1/2 hours looking at photographers that are famous for their portraits. BORING. I have learned a great deal about my camera and all of it's settings, so the class has been worth while. Now I want to learn how to make mats for the pictures. I had to take a break tonight...it is Halloween, you know. I don't remember my best costume, but I do remember the best treat...it was a candy apple from the family that owned the local bakeshop. I remember my worst trick, it was soaping some one's car....not their windows, the car. I was called into the office the next day by the police and the principal investigating the incident. How was I to know that soap ruined the paint job...and it wasn't just me, it was my whole sorority. Monkeyboy was a hockey player and Sprout was a pumpkin. Not sure about Bean. She may have had rehearsal for Cinderella. And I get to go see her on stage in the theater next week, can't wait! I remember a certain child having butterfly wings made for her for Halloween. She was two years old, and they were hand painted with great care. When she saw them she ran screaming....and I am pretty sure she never wore them. Maybe she wore them tonight, ten years later. What was your favorite costume or your favorite treat? Or do you have a trick about which you would want to keep secret? Have a great weekend and Happy Halloween.

Popcorn balls. Loved them. Never went out on Devil's night, wasn't allowed. I remember smashed pumpkins, which always seemed kind of mean for the little kids. We had a parade too, which was always fun. Good luck in your class, mia, I think the pictures are great no matter what anyone says.

My favorite costume was a witch, because I got to wear a wig and no one knew who I was. I won the prize in school because of that. Prizes are always good. I didn't like the popcorn balls, Ben. My favorite treat was home made pumpkin cookies from the lady next door. Boy, were they good! The kids that come knocking on the door are so cute. "Twick or Tweat". We don't have tto much tricking going on around here, thank goodness.

My favorite costume was a princess with a crown. The crown looked very regal and I wore it for days until my mother pointed out that if I wanted to dress like a princess, it was fine, but don't act like one. I think I still have that crown somewhere. Maybe I'll wear it to church tomorrow.

I was usually a football player or a baseball player. And we did all kinds of tricks on Halloween, but it was usually related to the fact that someone didn't pass out treats. As an adult, the worst was probably upsetting garbage cans. Hasn't happened to me, but I can see where that would abe a mess to clean. Sorry, Mr. Thompson, you should have given us candy.

The pictures are great mia. Do you get grades in this class or is it just for your learning and non graded? I like the black and white picture of Bean. I love the shadow, did you plan that? Halloween. I live in a secure condo complex, so the only ones we get are the ones I know, and they are very, very cute. Mostly single people live here, so I think there were about twenty kids. No tricks here, thank goodness!

I made my daughter what I thought was the cutest outfit ever, a rabbit costume with a cute little hood with rabbit ears. Then she decided she wanted to be a fairy princess. Then it was a ballerina. I gave up. I just remember wanting to pull those rabbit ears around her neck and pull tightly. I didn't.

We always just put on an old plaid shirt, a hat and a pair of jeans and went as a farmer. It's too far back to remember when I was smaller!

My mother always made my costumes. My favorite, I think, was Raggedy Ann, with the red yarn hair. I saved it and my daughter wore it also. I can't imagine how much time it took her to make it, and I'm not sure I ever told her how much I appreciated it! I'll call her today and tell her, because I could never begin to do this costume making.
