Thoughts on a Sunday

I was working on my photographs in the computer room when I left to answer the telephone, and when I returned, I interupted Ava's bath time. Needless to say, I won't be leaving any liquids alone with Ava again!
Ginger and I went to see Bean in her musical on Thursday. It was delightful...what we saw of it! During the intermission I was called upon to help Bean because she had taken ill. It's scarey when someone comes to seek you out in that manner. She was okay, just got to feeling faint because of the heat. Disappointed, but okay. I, of cours, caring and compassionate person that I am, asked her if she was going to heave in my new car. She assured me she wasn't, and by the time we hit the highway, she and Ginger were laughing and enjoying the warm night with the roof in the new car open. She returned to the stage on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, all to standing ovations. Good Job, Bean!
We have these teasers for weather...57 degrees, and now...struggling to hit 30. I know, it is March, but COME ON. I want spring. I want the flowers, I want the trees budding. The first of the green leaves appearing. On Thomas Blvd. here, the magnolia's come out way before mine does, and I love it. Or maybe they are dogwood. Whatever, they are beautiful.
When I drive to work in the morning, I see the same man walking his dog. He is an older gentleman, and the dog looks to be older also. They are walking along, every morning, rains, snow, sleet. I worry about him because last year a man was shot in that same neighborhood, not two blocks from where he walks every day. Do you ever see people and wonder about them? I wonder if he has lived in that same area all his live. It used to be quite the neighborhood, but now there are shootings among some very old, grand homes. The shootings are not infrequent. I hope he is safe. I love to watch people walking on my way to work. There are the children, walking to school, with these enormous back packs that have to weight as much as they do. There are the teens, jokingly pushing each other at the bus stops. At least I think it is being done in jest.
People watching is a great pasttime. I like sitting in the food court at the mall for people watching...well, for eating too. There was an older man at a table with his grandson while the mother went to get the food. The grandfather was a bit cranky, no doubt because the little boy did not want to be there and he was cranky and hungry. The mother returned and pacified everyone with food.
We had dinner at the Speghetti Warehouse tonight to celebrate a birthday dinner. It was fun, something a little different for Sunday Dinner. The staff all came to sing Happy Birthday. It was embarassing, but fun. The kids enjoyed it. The dinner was good. Happy Sunday everyone!

Oh, wow, I am the first one to post! I do not go to the mall to people watch. I have a limited time at the mall, and I SHOP! I people watch at the park when I take the kids. THAT is really an eye opener, let me tell you. Mia, look at all these people who wait for your blog. You have to post more. I love the picture of Ava. That is so funny. I assume that is water and not something stronger! Happy Sunday to you.

I am close behind, Sassy. I live in a city neighborhood and we had a shooting here tonight. I, too, see the older people in the community who have lived here forever. They don't want to leave, but are afraid to come out of their homes after dark. On a lighter note, great picture of your cat. As you know, I am a dog person, but your cat seems to have a lot of personality. The warehouse is a great place to eat. Not homemade food, but I do like their bread. Happy birthday to whomever! I like to people watch in the park. I take my dog to a dog park, and you certainly see it all there! Happy Sunday to everyone, and I love to read the posts and the comments. We are developing somewhat of a family. Wonder what that says? I prefer to think that you have generated some folks who enjoy your posts and your pictures and now enjoy all the comments. I do have to say that I log in at night to see who has said what. Thanks, Mia!

It looks like we can expect a post on Sundays. Used to be Sundays and once during the week, but she is keeping us in suspense. People watch. I don't do much of that. I hate to go to the mall, Sassy, sorry. I leave that to the wife. I stay at home with the kids and it is her time to do her thing. The number of shootings here is getting worse, it seems. The eleven year old shooting has everyone stunned. So Bean got a standing ovation, how great for her. I saw it advertised and it was in Ben's neighborhood. Wonder if he went. We should have taken the kids. Let us know when Bean has another appearance and we will go. Do we look for "Bean" in the program? It doesn't matter, if it's a kids show, we should be going. Why are we all up so late? Why, it must be to see what Mia posted.

I love the theater and try to go to as many plays as I can afford. Usually go off broadway since the tickets are about half of what they are on broadway. There is no shortage of theaters here. Poor Bean. At least she recovered quickly. We are having snow here, and I also am sick of winter. But we always get a snowstorm in March, so hopefully we are done.

I take the bus to work. When I first began I used to sit there and try to figure out people and who they were and what they did. After a while, we all became familiar with each other, so now we have a "group", just as we do here, apparently! It's fun and starts the day off nicely. Our driver had surgery recently, and we all pitched in for a card and gift.

I have to laugh at Sassy and her mall trips. I think the picture of Ava is so funny. Cats certainly have a personality of their own. I'm glad Bean felt better quickly. So, when is her next production? I people watch when I am in the car also.

My daughter carries a back pack that weighs at least 20 pounds. I see all the other kids walking down the street with theirs. I heard of a college that is having students read text books on line rather than buying them. I think that is a great idea. Don't know that it will ever catch on, but I like it! We aren't getting teased, we are getting tons of snow. Winter has not left us!

I love watching kids, no, I am not a pervert! They are fun to watch on the playground or in the park. They play with such abandoment, such joy, such passion. They run freely, they laugh joyfully, the jump, skip, play hopscotch (yes, they still play hopscotch). To be a kid again without all the rules adults impose. Good job, Bean, you are awesome in you theater and Monkeyboy is his swimming.

People make an interesting study, don't they? I watched them last week in the doctor's office. You sit and wonder why they are there, who they are. I love to watch them in the mall also. But like Sassy, I usually go to pick out one specific thing and then leave.

I don't usually watch people, never thought much about doing it. I do watch them at traffic lights while I am waiting for the light to change. Most adults seem to walk along now with a cup of coffee in hand. Remember when it used to be a cigarette in hand?

I do remember that, Kevin, and I suppose coffee is healthier. And coffee seems to be the latest status symbol. And I don't know why women wear sneakers with dress clothes, can anyone explain?

I forgot to say, I LOVE the picture of Ava. Aren't cats wonderful? They have such personality. But then I think all animals do.

I suppose the women you see in dress clothes and sneakers are coming or going to work and they are a lot easier to walk in than heels. Is anonymous a man? The women carry their heels in a bag.

We pick our 14 year old grandson up from bowling which he goes to right from school. Talk about luggage. He has bowling ball, back pack full of books, laptop computer and I don't know what else. Whatever, it is quite a load. I guess all we had to worry about was a pencil box (dated) and a good eraser.

Ava is adorable. I do think I have some competition!! I am so totally a people watcher. And yes, a feline watcher as well. BTW, very cold today. Frozen whiskers and tail. Hate when that happens.

I cannot function without my morning cup o' Joe (with extra cream)and then a few more cups throughout the day. Prrrrrr. I know all the good coffee shops along my meandering paths. Fun to eavesdrop as well at the coffee shops. Is that rude? Funny, I was just thinking today that I really don't wear my tennis shoes with my work clothes anymore bkz I don't have far to walk to work. It is very hard Anonymous, to wear heels and run across town, especially in bad weather! Know its not a great look but very comfy. Have a great week everyone!

And very ironic, my word verfication was terMICE.

Clearly, Anonymous is a man. I agree, Kitty, restaurants are great places to people watch. And I eavesdrop also. I do a lot of traveling, so eating out comes with the territory. And there is nothing more fun to do than sit and watch and listen. And yes, I drink coffee on my way to work, wear flat shoes, not sneakers. Heels are too hard to walk quickly in and too dangerous on uneven pavement. Sorry, Anonymous, it may not look so good, but it works!

I only wear heels in the summer...I like my toes to show.

Where do you get your shoes, Tim? I am always in the market for new ones.

It is beginning to feel like spring here again. We will probably have snow next week! I like to people watch in the library, see what they look at to read.
