A Sad Day In Mudville

It had to end, this tremendous winning streak that his team had. I believe it was 16 or 17 games. And end it did. They lost their game last night, 6-5. It looked as though they tied it up in the last inning, but alas, the runner was called back to third and the last out was called. Another game today, perhaps two. We'll have to see.
Bean got an electric guitar, and generously allowed Monkeyboy to try it. Both kids have talent when it comes to music, and already they have collaborated on a song. MR plays keyboard, Bean plays guitar and Monkeyboy plays drums. They have been banished to the basement to practice. All they need now is a name.
I have a fan that is stuck on one speed. I wrote to the manufacturer and told them the problem. They suggested sending them the model number which is located on top of the motor housing, which just happens to be three inches from the ceiling. So, I am on top of the bed with a mirror looking for the number. Aha, this must be it. But they said it started with a "2". Hmmm, could this thing that looks like a "5" actually be a "2"? And I am having some difficulty reading the numbers from the reflection in the mirror. So, I try to take a picture, but that doesn't work. And it is very, very dusty. I clean it and get everything below very, very, dusty. I write back to the manufacturer and give him what I think are the numbers and tell him they could be in any order. We'll see what happens with that.
The magnolia tree has scales. They are little white bubble kind of things. Scales, I am told. They cannot be gotten rid of this year, but the medicine should take care of it next year, I am told. Oh, yes, and the deer have returned. Madly spraying plants and it seems to have helped.
Other than that, unemployment is wonderful. I wake up and think about doing something, then do nothing. Not true, of course. Bean, Monkeyboy and I went to pick out paint for the bedroom with the fan that doesn't work properly. We decided on light blue. That's the name. It is a pure blue, no grey or green, and I think it is going to be pretty. I had to repair the window where there was water damage (and I did a fine job, I might add), and I just sanded that down, so Monday will be paint day. Maybe. That's the great thing, you know. I can do it or not.
We went for a walk the other night, well, actually we went for a walk several times. Mippy, Monkeyboy, Bean and I. The kids rode their bikes and Mippy had Oscar, the dog. Monkeyboy wiped out twice...lose gravel on the road, and according to him, Bean making him wipe out. The first time he ran into a tree. Bean and I had a difficult time containing our laughter. I have a problem with that...I tend to laugh when people fall. He didn't get hurt on that one, only his pride. Two nights later, the same thing, only he got pretty scratched up on that fall. I didn't laugh. His arm was bleeding (Bean's fault,of course, she cut him off) and he held his arm up for about 1/2 miles watching the blood. And he was never going to ride his bike again because it was stupid. He rode it the next day. His father was riding his motorcycle to work and Monkeyboy rode up the street on his bike beside his father.
Off to clean and get ready for the game today. This next one will be do or be done time, I believe. It's so hard to follow all this.
Have a wonderful summer weekend.

How generous of Bean to take the blame! Wipeouts hurt. I did it many times, on bikes, skates, skateboards. Broke my arm once on a fall from the skateboard. The joys of being a kid. And the freedom of flying down the hill with the wind in your face. I think fans know when the weather is hot and they decide to take a rest. We can only hope that it is stuck on a speed that will help with the heat.

Monkeyboy has atleast one more game today and we're very excited to watch. And, yes, I have decided to play electric guitar. It's really fun. Monkeyboy plays drums, MR plays keyboard, and I play the guitar, so it all works out!! Does anyone have any band-name ideas???

How about "slick chicks plus one"? What fun! Sounds like you folks are having a great summer. My worst wipeout was on a bike when I was learning to ride. I can relate to Monkeyboy, my whole arm was a mess.

I'm really bad at names, but how about Three Hobos? I had an electric guitar. I think it is somewhere in the house. I laughed about the fan, mia. Let it go, summer will soon be over! Good luck in the games, Monkeyboy.

"Two Chicks and a Monkeyboy"
"The Monkeyboy Trio"
"Three Kids Havin' Fun"

Well, that's the best I can do.

Fell and broke a wrist once showing the kids how to us a Pogo Stick safely. How embarassing to explain that in the ER.

Funny bit with the ceiling fan, Mia
I hope you get what you need being that everything is backwards while looking in the mirror. Maybe the mfg can unscramble it. Good Luck

Pajama Llama, Shooting Stars, Steeler Sunrise
That's it. I can't think, it's too nice out. You probably should just get a new fan, Mia. By the time you strain your eyes, you can buy one for %50 or so. Sorry to hear about the wipeout, it happens to the best of us Monkeyboy.

The only name I could come up with is "Summer's Breeze" I know, it's dumb, but what do you expect? I was trying to think of something to do with malls, but couldn't come up with anything. I say shop for a new fan, mia. Where is Ben when you need him?

I'm not even going to try a name. We have fans going all over the house because I don't want to put on the air conditioning. Poor Monkeyboy, a bad week, first the wipeouts, the the game losses. Keep plugging away Monkeyboy, things will get better.

We had some bad storms here last night that knocked out our electricity, so no fans, no air conditioners. Can you say "stone age"? But today is sunny and beautiful and not so awfully hot. Maybe Monkeyboy's team needs a rest, soundds like they hve played a lot of ball recently!

Have to decide what kind of band you want to have. Sounds like a rock band. Then go from there. The rain comes and goes here, but I agree, Mia needs a new fan. But, hey, if it works at all, keep it till it dies. Hang in there, Monkeyboy, it will get better.

It's easier to just buy a new fan, Mia. But I would wait until it doesn't work at all, especially if it works on medium or high. These days it is more expensive to get something fixed, especially if you can replace it for $50. We bike ride quite a bit, and still have wipe-outs. How did the tournament turn out, Mia?

A band! What a great idea. Always lived in the city and our summers were spent playing ball, not the organized kind that Monkeyboy plays, and swimming in the pool in the park. They've done away with the park for apartments. Progress, I suppose. Now the kids have nowhere to swim, but people have nice new high rises to live in.

Mia, is it operated by remote or by chain? Is the chain frozen? If you don't have a chain, and it is operated by remote, try cleaning the sensors. There is one on the remote and one on the fan. That might help. Don't know how old it is, but if that doesn't do it, it may be time to look for one on sale. They are pretty easy to install. Hey Monkeyboy, hang in there, every team has it's slump. A band, huh. I have no good names, sorry Bean.

Our kids had rock bands. The noise was more than I care to remember. I don't even remember their name.

There is nothing better than a rock band to drive parents crazy on a hot summer day with all the windows open and the same song, being played over and over and over!

Mia, I laughed about your fan. I hope you can correct the problem on the Magnolia tree. Your "outdoor reading room" looks so wonderful it would be a shame to have it ruined by scales.

I practice scales everyday

Best band name ever: Dad's Pants.

No I don't know why I think that's so funny.

When you said, "I have a fan that is stuck on one speed" I thought you were talking about one of your readers, hahahahaha.

A pogo stick, Ginger! That is hysterical. I had one as a kid. Did you actually know how to use it? I am still laughing!

Angela said...

LOL, WMommy, None of these names of bands hit me, but what do I know. Was never in a band and can't carry a tune, let alone read music. Just have fun with it. And good luck with the fan, Mia.

ginger said...

Well, JD, I thought I knew how to use it but apparently, I didn't.
I tried it in our basement which had a tile floor and of course, the pogo stick slipped right out from under me. OK, you can stop laughing now. I think the ER people were laughing too.

Live and learn. I never tried a pogo stick again
