Glub, Glub, Glub

Do you know what that is? It is the sound of my drain in the tub draining. On Thursday I took a shower. The tub backed up....a lot. Usually, it backs up slowly and I put in some drain cleaner and it works again, but that day, it didn't drain. I went and got dressed, ate breakfast, got ready for work and looked at the tub. Bad news, it had not drained. Left home, bought some drain cleaner and went to work. Came home, and the tub had drained. I put in drain cleaner and waited for the half hour they recommended and then ran hot water. Uh oh. Waited. Tub drained. Put more drain cleaner in. Waited the alloted half hour and tried again. Whoops, didn't work again. OK, let it go till morning. Woke up and took my shower, figuring I would plunge the drain. That didn't work, (and in fact, had four inches of water in tub) so called a NEW plumber and gave my sad story. He said he would try to stop by at the end of the day. I left to have lunch with Michele, who got a new job. So, we celebrated. Lunch was awful, by the way. Came home and tub was still full, so I was pulling and pushing various things on the shower, and presto....the tub drained. Is there sound that is better than glub, glub, glub as the tub drains?????? Somehow, the drain got closed (I prefer to think it was Ava and not me) and now that it was open, all was right with the world of bathtubs. I called the plumber (didn't tell him the WHOLE story, just that the tub was cleared) and he said he was glad. Very nice man, and I am sure cheaper than the other plumber who would hav charged me $500 to open the plug. Anyway, it is working beautifully.
Monkeyboy played hockey on Saturday and was amazing. This child has some inborn skills that wonderful. It was a beautiful day and we had lots of fun (and food) while watching the game.
I looke out the window today and saw the last leaf remaining on the tree. It was interesting to see and I wonder how long it will hang there, waiting to fall.
The Steelers won tonight....YAY. The Denver family called tonight and B. said he was wearing his Steelers shirt I sent him. He said whenever he wore it, Steelers lost. THE CURSE HAS BEEN BROKEN. Thanks, B., for wearing it! He is my buddy.
Two very close friends are having surgery...Wackymommy and my friend, Linda. Keep them in your thoughts. Surgery is always stressful, and positive attitudes help, as Linda has proven! My positive thoughts are with you both.
Have a great week!

Prayers to Wackymommy and Linda.
I HATE PLUMBING PROBLEMS. We always feel so vulnerable because we don't know what's going on. When they tell us the whole house needs new plumbing, we gulp and say "ooooookay." Not really, but I trust my husband to ask the questions and he tells me he has no idea of what is going on, but he keeps asking. Glad yours worked out, Mia.

Monkeyboy and sports, how fun to hear about him. The Steelers were great last night! I'm beginning to watch the games and I don't even like football! Best wishes to Linda and Wackymommy. I am sure all will go well, and Mia, keep us posted. What a great picture of the leaf..the last one hanging on. All of ours are down, at last!

I like the picture of Monkeyboy. It's great when a kid is interested in physical activity. Yes, the Steeler game was good. I thought Denver would do better, but it just goes to the defense of the Steelers. Hope your friends do well with their surgery.

I know the feeling of being inept when it comes to plumbing, electricity, computers, anything! I try to read things on line so I don't appear too stupid. At least I can ask some questions. Google is great for that. Prayers to your friends. Hope it is nothing too serious.

I find it easier to just hire someone to take care of those problems. They appear to know what they are doing, so I leave them alone and go about doing something else.
While surgery is stressful, there are many things in life that are more stressful.
Good luck to both of you.

Glad it all worked out with the drain problem, Mia. Your stick to it ness did the trick.

We just got a couple of boxes to upgrade to digital TV because they took some channels off of us. Well,Skipper tried to set the one in the living room but couldn't get it to work. Called TV guy and even he wasn't having any luck so a technician came out and we are good to go. But then I read the pink slip that tells the technician what the problem was.

It said, wait for it,.............

Elderly subject could not put the code in. That struck me very funny,
true, but very funny.

The other box was bad so a replacement is on the way and the elderly subject is going to try again.

Best wishes and prayers to your friends, Mia. I'm sure all will go well.

No problem, Wacky Mommy, many have been there and it is not a pleasant thing to go thru.
Mia, what will you do when hockey is over? At least you had hockey when baseball was over. It's a long way to spring! Interesting picture of the leaf!

A ton of leaves to rake, glad they are all down. Interesting picture, Mia, of the one remaining leaf. It looks like it isn't ready to give up yet.

He didn't rake them, he hired someone to do it. Good wishes and prayers to your friends Mia.

Dear Wackymommy and Linda: I find that the best way to deal with surgery or any uncomfortable situation is to use raw humor and sarcasm to get through it. So when you are picking the person to accompany you to your surgery that day, make sure it is someone with a sense of humor!!! I've had a few and that's what always helps me. Also, wanted to say you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Mia: Thanks for the celebration! it continued after I left you that day. I ate your gross left overs out of desperation at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday. All I can say is, I was unable to seek other food at that time, due to personal lack of transportation aka I had no business driving a car and I knew that, so I stayed in! They were still pretty bad... :-( I can't wait to see the wonderful pictures you took on your train trip!

I like the idea of taking someone with a sense of humor. Hopefully, the surgery will go well and both will be on a speedy road to recovery. Mia and/or Linda and WackyMommy will have to let us know.
So, Monkeyboy looks great playing hockey. Sports are great fun and great exercise.
Love the picture of the leaf, mine are all down, thank goodness. Although, now that means winter will soon be here! Have to get to the mall and stock up on warm things.

The Steelers were awesome! What a game in the mile high. I had to laugh about the plumbing problem, Mia. Trust me, there are lots of good plumbers around. Don't be afraid to talk to people, and ask lots of questions. If you don't understand, keep asking. If it doesn't sound right, get a second opinion.

My legs are tired, and I need oxygen during the half time, but I'm okay now.

And we appreciate your cheering, Tim, I'm sure it helped. Always good to see a Steeler win. Tough one coming up this weekend, Tim, so get ready.

My thoughts and best wishes for your friends. What a great picture of the lone leaf. Has it fallen yet?

At 4:00 a.m. in the ED this past Saturday and with all male nurses (who were wonderful BTW), you are right Michele, a sense of humor does come in handy to cover up those inevitable embarrassing moments. And they will come.

Yes, Anonymous, it does feel challenging at times to keep things in balance, maintain perspective on the truly important things in life and be grateful for our blessings.

And Benji, I do put my feline nose in the handyman's business and ask lots of questions. I am very annoying that way but they laugh at my jokes anyways.

Good advice, Ben. I am intimidated by anyone who has to fix anything in my house. I just keep my fingers crossed and my eyes closed. Then I get another estimate, even in an emergency.

I always find the comments to be so interesting. Everyone seems to have a distinctive personality. Your posts are very thought provoking, like the picture of the leaf. First time commentor, Mia, but not first time reader.

Welcome, AP. Mia, prayers to your friends, keep us posted. Tim, thanks for your efforts, the cheers made them win, I think. Kitty, were you in the ED this weekend? Hope you are okay. The picture of the leaf shows me lonliness. I like the picture of Monkeyboy, action, interaction, fun.

I had some medical problems a while back, so I understand the anxiety that goes with those problems. Good luck to Linda and WackyMommy. It will be okay, just think positive thoughts. Mine are with you. And Monkeyboy, keep playing and enjoying.

Ginger, we had the same problem. And we still can't figure it out! Someday....but not today.

Mr. Snarky, at your service, WackyMommy!

Mia, is Matt playing on ice? Looks like in the photo they're doing some dry-land training... great way to learn the game without being to distracted with learning how to skate at the same time!

I'm finally getting back on the ice at least once a week. Nothing like it in the world.
