Winter Reappears

We had a minor ice storm/snowstorm here today. And it was not nearly so bad as others had it, but it wasn't very good either. When I arrived home tonight, I saw the ice on the trees and it was so pretty. So, after sliding my way home, I found some beauty. At work, we have a number of very talented artists, Kitty and Michele among them. We have put out a calling for artists in the office to bring forth their work to display. A co-worker is a photographer...actually, a number of my co-workers are. He has a picture hanging in a gallery...how exciting is that! I love to look at photographs, it brings me great pleasure. I worked on a picture for Ginger and I was so pleased with the results. I can't wait to see if people respond and to see their works of art. It will be like our own gallery. I see things and want others to see them and to see the beauty that I see...but it is hard. I remember looking at the Grand Canyon and thinking, "no picture can do this justice". So, maybe the pictures that I take can only be a memory of the beauty that I saw, even if it doesn't bring that beauty to others. But, oh, if it does, what joy! What do you do that brings that joy to you?

I think joy comes for me when I am creating a meal for my family. I really love cooking, and I look through magazines looking for new ways to prepare meals so that we can sit together and talk about our day. It is the highlight of my day.

Providing servicse to people who can't afford them. It gives me a feeling that I can help someone who has no one else.

I would say shopping, but that sounds so shallow. I actually find great pleasure in reading a good book. In fact, I think a trip to the local library might be on my list of things to do today. Have a wonderful day and stay warm.

I'll be shallow for both of us Sam. A cold beer and football, as in the Super Bowl on Sunday. Go Steelers! The park looked spectacular with the ice on the trees, Mia.

I love to look at art also, Mia. And I like to paint. There is nothing better than sitting down in front of a canvas and watching as color comes alive and a picture takes shape. I log onto your blog first for the pictures, then for the entries. Keep it up, Mia. And Ben, pop a cold one for me. Go Steelers, since we can't be in the Bowl.

When I get spare time, I love to go up to my room, put on a song, and just dance. It doesn't matter to me whether I know what I'm doing or not, I just like to have fun.

Bean, both you and I enjoy what we called Flashdance in the 80's. It is an original that just happens, never to be seen again.

I like the beach. I like to watch sunsets and to hear the sound of the water hitting the shore. When I retire someday, I will move to the beach instead of just going there for vacations. I think the best beach I have been to is in Mexico on the Gulf. Clear, blue water and beautiful beaches.

I just really like watching the kids play together. They are amusing and fun. Of course, the Steelers come in a close second.

At this time of the year I like to ski and skate. Coming down the mountain on skis with the sun shining and cold, crisp air. Makes me feel like I am flying. The quiet, the peace. I think I'll go skiing this weekend. I'll be back in time for the Super Bowl, if only for the ads! Have a happy weekend everyone.

Sorry, no talent here, although my children are very talented and Skipper can draw a good picture and can sing when he wants to. Sang in his church choir for years and was on a radio (boy that dates us) talent show as a young man.

As for me, I just sit back and enjoy everyone else's talent. The snow on the trees today was beautiful and that was a sight to behold and appreciate God's talent.

Ginger, what a wonderful post! It is true, is it not? That some of the most beautiful art in the world is God's art, the blue sky, the flowers, the trees. Thank you Ginger, for pointing that out.

I like Bean's comment. To be free to express ourself and not care what anyone thinks. Good comment Bean. And yours also, Ginger. What a great group you have here. OK, go Steelers, although I don't follow football at all.

I stumbled on your blog. Another Steeler fan here. From Pittsburgh. Can I join your group? Nice pictures. Ice on my trees broke limbs off. One fell on my car. Live in South Hills. Am looking forward to game Sunday.

I think you are right, Mia. Some beauty cannot be captured in pictures. But I think the pictures can jog our memory of the time. Welcome, Kevin, even if it is not my blog.
