Feeling That Thanksgiving Dinner

It was a wonderful dinner, and I hope yours was as well. I say it took us thirty minutes to eat...Mippy said it took us thirty minutes to fill our plates, sit down and then eat. It amazes me the work that goes into the dinner and how quickly it is devoured. But it was oh, so good. And such a relaxing day. And the turkey was done to perfection this year, thank goodness.
Bean is looking great on her pointe shoes, and after such a short time.
And Monkeyboy is racing about on his blades, playing hockey and loving it.
The tradition here is to have everyone decorate my tree after Thanksgiving dinner. It was amazing to see over the years how the kids decorate. Initially it was seeing who could unpack and put more decorations on the tree. Now the kids actually try to do it so there aren't too many of the same color in the same place. It is smoother and more fun this way. I believe a good time was had by all.
Phipps is very busy this weekend. It is the opening of their winter show. So many people coming in with their children dressed up in their holiday finest to have their picture taken. I was in the Palm Court today, selling memberships. It is interesting to see families and how they get their children to sit still, to pose, to smile. Parents making faces, jumping up and down, and yes, cajoling children to smile with bribes of food to come. And then I become the photographer that takes the family picture. Always someone with closed eyes, fussing with their hair, poking a sibling. One family had triplets and two other children. That was a bit humorous, with one of the triplets crying, the other hitting and the third laughing at the first.
I already ordered on line and should be getting many of the things in the mail this week. It's more fun for me to get them in the mail than to go to the mall. I try my best to stay away from the mall at all costs.
The Steelers barely won today. Had me on the edge of my seat. The new kicker did an excellent job of winning the game for us.
Have a great week, and see you soon!

How graceful Bean looks! Our Thanksgiving was very nice, quiet with just our family since everyone else is out of town. And yes, we ate till we couldn't eat anymore. What a nice tradition, having everyone help decorate. I guess it is that time of the year. Yes, I heard the Steeler won, sounded like a close game.

Love the story about decorating the tree. Our tree is made up of all hand made ornaments. Every year we add new ones, and it truly does look like a Charlie Brown tree. Most of the ornaments are on the bottem since the kids can only go so high, but each year it gets a little higher. We have paper chains, popcorn (that the pets eat), cranberries, cookies (that the family eats) and paper snowflakes. It's fun, it's, let's see...unique. As for Chrismas pictures, well, we gave up on that years ago!
I agree about the mall, it's awful and I try to stay away as much as possible.

What a great idea, Lori. We used to do that as kids. I love Chrismas, the decorations, the llghts. I love it for about two days, then I get tired of it. So, by the time the day actually gets here, I am ready to pull my hair out. I like that picture of Bean, Mia. Our Thanksgiving dinner was wonderful. So many people and so much food. We still have turkey left, and I think tonight will be a soup night to use the rest of it.

I love Thanksgiving. I love the family all together, I love the food...wait, I hate the clean-up. But it's not so bad if everyone chips in and does their share. I'm sure we all have food poisening because we leave a lot of the food out to nibble on thru the evening, and that seems to be even better than when it is all hot. Now to decorate the house.

We almost blew it yesterday, our offensive team looks awful. Baltimore should be interesting. I hope we get it together by then. Had Thanksgiving with Bill and his family. Football and turkey, what could be better? Hope everyone had a safe and happy day.

I saw that game, Ben, and I think the Steelers ought to be thanking Suisham. He certainly had some awesome kicks yesterday. Like every other man in the country, I spent Thursday eating and watching football. My wife and kids hit the mall on Friday and we vegged out the rest of the weekend.

We still decorate our tree on Christmas Eve. The kids help, then we go to Midnight Mass and come home, open presents and go to bed. Christmas day is visiting with friends and family. Your conservatory looks lovely Mia. And Bean looks to be on perfect pointe.

I know, isn't it amazing how quickly we eat a good dinner. I have never been one to relax and eat slowly. IT GETS COLD, FOLKS!
And guess where I went on Friday? RIGHT.....the mall. Got most of the shopping done. And boy, did I get some bargains. And no, I was not one of the women that you saw fighting on the news.

Always great to turn on the computer and see a new post from Mia. Yes, the season has begun. So much hustle and bustle, running around, trying to get everything done. How nice a tradition to decorate the tree early and when everyone is together and can join in. And how cute that the kids are able to discern when there are too many red balls in one place.

I do all my shopping on line now. It is so much easier than fighting the mall. Fortunately, my kids are young enough that I don't buy clothes and have to worry about sizes, so it works for me. And like you, Mia, I love to watch for them to come in the mail.
Our Thanksgiving was spent with family out of state. And surprisingly enough, the airports weren't as bad as I thought they would be.

Oh, my, Bean does look like a ballerina. Yes, I order a lot of my stuff on line. I wait as long as possible in hopes they will offer free shipping amd most do. Our Thanksgiving was kind of non descript, good, but family couldn't all be together. We are trying for Christmas, when everyone has gotten over the flu!

Thanksgiving in our house also is about football and eating. It was a great day. Yes, those Steelers need a lot of help on their offense. I hear Ben has a sore foot, probably from putting it in his mouth so often.

Had Thanksgiving in Ohio this year and it was fine except for the driving. Our son-in-law could barely see the road on the way home with the rain and darkness. But we made it and all is well.

Skipper and I still cut down our tree so we will do that this week. Then putting it up and decorating will be next. When the kids were at home, we never put the tree up until they went to sleep. What nights those were and I now miss them. Besides the tree, it was putting together the toys and we always had some nut or bolt left over. Fun Time

I'm with you, Ginger. We cut down our tree also and we put gifts together Christmas Eve after the kids are in bed. So little sleep for us, but it is worth it when we see their faces. When I was younger, my parents did the tree, the trains and the gifts on Chrismas Eve, but that's because we went to bed by 8:00.

I cheered and cheered as hard as I could. I am resting now, so I can cheer again on Sunday.

It is fun to read your blog, Mia. I looked up Phipps on the internet and it looks beautiful from the on line tour. It must be a wonderful place to work.

We owe you big time, Tim. Keep up the good work. And they aren't even my team!

They aren't my team either, but one has to give credit where credit is due...good job, Tim.
