A Lazy Sunday

Judith Penzer did the mural. It is actually painted on the side of a building, but looks so real, so 3-D, as though it is a separate home entirely. We have a number of them in the city, and I think it's a great way to display art. Ms. Penzer died in a plane crash, which makes this particular mural special and well worth preserving. I believe this one was her first one. Penn State lost, but they lost to Iowa, so my brother will be happy. Steelers did not win, but that's okay, I guess. Bean's run at the Byham has concluded. She caught a bug from Monkeyboy and wasn't too sure that she would be able to perform, but as the saying goes "the show must go on", and she did her part. Sunday mornings for me are sleeping in, reading the paper, watching Meet The Press and the Steelers, and of course, Sunday dinner. Today will be a little different, but I love Sundays. Total kick back day. It's been a dreary weekend here, so it's nice to grab my book or watch my latest Netflix movie, Bull Durham. I was thinking today, how life is a series of ups and downs and how the extreme highs make the lows worth while. I remember the family reunion and sitting around the pool on the night of arrival. The kids were all in the pool and the adults were sitting around talking. I turned to Poppy and said, "this is what it is all about". It was truly a time of being together as a family and kids meeting and being with their cousins who are scattered throughout the country. What were your highs? What do you remember best with fondness?

Such a sad game. Ben did not look good. Three interceptions. Where was the cheerleading squad? We need to have a word, Kitty, you are slacking in your duties.

Here I sit at some horrible hour with a child I just got settled. She has an earache, and as she lies here beside me with her head on a hot water bottle, I respond to your blog! I guess for me, like you, the best time is with family. It's when our daughter was baptized and everyone came here to be with us. I just felt very much at peace, I can't even describe it, except to say it was wonderful. I will treasure that day forever. Now maybe, just maybe, I can get some sleep.

My first time on stage.

The opening of the outlet mall! Seriously, I remember many Christmas celebrations and all of the family being together. And family vacations. Although sometimes they were/can be hectic, there are usually a few good/great moments to remember.

I don't have a lot of family left, but I think one of my favorite times was when I went to Hawaii for my vacation and just did nothing but sit on the beach and enjoy the warmth. The sound of the waves hitting the shore was extremely peaceful.

I remember the day our first child was born and the incredible feeling I had when they put her in my arms.

My first touchdown. I was backup and got in because of an injury and I got a touchdown. My one and only. It felt so good.

Sorry, I missed a lot of your blogs, Mia. I think since I got back from Branson, I have been catching up on my computer.

I've had a lot of good things happen in my life, marriage, children, many great vacations with friends. Right now, my most recent high will be on the 21st when my daughter and family come in from California. They won't be here for long but I am anxiously awaiting their arrival and seeing my two grandsons again.
