Back to Work

I keep thinking of Wacky Mommy and how excited she is about work. I went back today. Had to go to the main office to check in...guess they wanted to make sure I was alive. I arrived in the city through all the traffic, parked the car for $8.00 an hour and trotted down to the main office. Had to sign in, go upstairs and wait for the personnel man to arrive. (I got there at 8:15, he arrived at 8:40 for our 8:30 appointment. He took me back to his office, gave me a new timesheet and said "if anything comes up, give me a call." I trotted back to the parking garage, just making the one hour deadline and zipped back to the office. All so they could see that, indeed, I was alive. They are demolishing a building next to our office. Because of this, the police have to move their parking. So, they took...oh, I don't know....50 of our parking places. So, often there is no place to park. One man in our office parked in one of their spots (clearly marked "police only") and got a warning. Doesn't matter that there are always at least a half dozen spaces open...we have to park elsewhere. IF I were the type, I would key everyone of their cars. But I'm not the type. ;) As it is, I just glare at them as I pass them. And I want to ask them if the longer walk is helping them lose the weight from all the donuts...but I don't. We have people transporting small children, carrying them in infant seats with diaper bags. They now cannot park near the building, because the police, who sit in their office a lot, can't walk. Here's to the police.......what is it that they do? Not a bad first day back at work, nice welcome from everyone. Meet with the auditors tomorrow. What is it that they do? Stay as enthused as you are Wacky Mommy...Wicked Kitty, Bird and I are cheering for you. Have a great Monday! And Ginger, that Buck, Buck games sounds like a killer....who thought of THAT one?????? OUCH!

Police have a difficult job, but so do lots of other people, and they don't get the special attention police get, not just at your office, but everywhere. Now, the good thing about YOUR blog, mia, is that YOU know who wicked kitty is, and I don't. :( And she said cool kats are welcome!

Now, now, mia, no keying the cars. How about soap on the windows? And let's give them the benefit of a doubt, maybe they didn't ask for them. But they probably did. Must set a good example for those grandkids. Or, do it behind their back! And hope they don't arrest you when the kids are with you.

Last year on the road trip, Sassy, I got a speeding ticket. The kids were speechless and watched my speed for the rest of the trip. Bird got a ticket with Monkeyboy in the car and the officer gave him a lollipop, I think. And then during the homecoming parade, he waved to Monkeyboy. The policeman and monkeyboy are best buddies. Bird, on the other hand........

Yep, I deserved the ticket, going 40 in a 25, on some dinky road. It was a motorcycle cop, which thrilled Monkeyboy to death! The cop was really nice, to me and Monkeyboy, but i got the ticket and Monkey got the lollipop, they were just chatting it up like old pals as i signed the pink slip with the giant fine! One time i was riding with a bunch of other guys for memorial day, we were getting polic escort through traffic, and yes, it was the same cop! Monkeyboy walks over smiles at him "Hi..you gave my dad a ticket" (picture his big grin in your head) I just smile and wave..Monkeyboy scores more candy!

I got a ticket once for going thru a red light. I swear it was yellow. I never know what to say because I know you aren't supposed to argue, but I am sure it was yellow. Couldn't even fight it because it was in a town 250 miles away and I would have had to miss a day's work to go to a hearing. Probably would have lost anyway.

What an exciting first day! And just think, you get to do that over and over and over again.

We played Buck Buck when we were kids in the alley but have also played it as an adult with other consenting adults who had a few drinks or more.

Don't ask the cops if they want to play Buck Buck, you might get arrested for sure!

Prrrrr. What a nice thing for Ben to say. Is Ben short for Benji? Sorry, Mia, know this isn't a coffee shop!

"Hi..you gave my dad a ticket..."

hahahahaha. As if to say, Eddie Haskell-style, "You'll never have that problem with ME, officer!" Heh, that's a funny story.

I can't WAIT to start my new job and go EVERY SINGLE DAY. Yippeee...

I am excited, for real, but I do remember how work can be both insane and tedious at the same time. My motto used to always be, I apply for a job, I get it, I have to show up there every day. What's the point of that?

What a good little slacker I was.
